Brownsville Heritage and Senator Jesse Hamilton celebrate West Africa with an historical, rhythmic journey through music featuring musician Famoro Dioubate and his band Kakande. Famoro comes from an 800 year old musical tradition that celebrates African melodies and the balafon (xylophone) – an instrument that has had people dancing in West Africa since the court of Emperor Sundiata Keita back in 1235.
