Following up the 2013 Live Wire inaugural event, Black Men, Soul Music, this discussion will look at how Black men responded to the “post” civil rights movement era of the 1970s and 1980s through music. Black Men/Soul Music II: Soul Revolution will look at the work of artists such as Stevie Wonder, The Isley Brothers, The Last Poets, Gil Scott Heron, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, and how writers and producers like Wonder, Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff, and Norman Whitfield helped to define the sound of the revolution in popular music.
