NYC Parks is hosting its first ever Senior Games!
Brooklyn’s Senior Games takes place May 11-14 at St. John’s Recreation Center. Recreation Center members age 50+ must register with a Brooklyn Recreation Center to compete. (A low-cost recreation center membership is required; seniors ages 62+ can access all rec centers for a $25 annual fee.)
Competitions include: Bowling, Tennis, Pickleball, Table Tennis, Swimming, Basketball, Shuffle Board and Table Games. A Torch Relay will stop at all the Brooklyn Recreation Centers, beginning May 10 and ending at the opening ceremony for the Senior Olympics on May 11.
To prepare for the Senior Games, Recreation Center members are invited to clinics. Each month, a different sport will be covered in these weekly clinics. The first week of each month is open to the public.
The Senior Games is sponsored by New York State Senator Jesse Hamilton. Pre-registration is required. To find out more, call St. John’s Recreation Center at (718) 771-2787, or visit the website here.
