Cinema’s arch-provocateur, Luis Buñuel, unleashes a wickedly funny satire of upper-crust social rituals. A genteel dinner party in an opulent mansion descends into chaos when guests become convinced they are unable to leave. As all order breaks down, the situation spirals into increasingly absurdist realms, with roaming sheep, a live bear, and a crawling, disembodied hand among the surreal sights.
