The New School / School of Jazz faculty-led student group, Music of Charlie Parker Ensemble, will perform specific tunes and original arrangements of Charlie Parker, including the music of some of Parker’s contemporaries, such as Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, and Tadd Dameron. The language of the bebop musicians is studied through listening, emulation, and implementation. Repertoire includes such works as “Groovin’ High,” “Blue and Boogie,” “Salt Peanuts,” “Dizzy Atmosphere,” “Shaw Nuff,” “’Round Midnight,” “Donna Lee,” “Confirmation,” “Hot House,” “Eb-Pob,” “The Squirrel,” “One Base Hit,” and “Two Base Hit.” FREE.
